The R.A Torrey Library, a place for students to hang out with their friends, talk, or as she loved to do, read. The library was full of places children could go to, take their minds off of class, homework, or any drama that lingers in the minds of other students. As she walked towards the crime section of the large library, a black figure slinked out of the sleve of the white labcoat that was worn over a black top and jeans. The golden neck and stirpe that harbored on the black-furred creature ruffled as it fumbled down onto the shelf of crime.
"So, Abigail, do you ever stop reading? Last week was Romance novels, and the week before that was anything on Vampires or Werewolves. Come on child, ask the Librarian to order some new books, you've already gone through all the books here." The words coming from the black figure just came out so smooth it was like a song. Being a ferret, she was small, but had a fiece bite. The beady, black eyes that were worn by the black-and-gold ferret stared at the girl in the white labcoat. The happy, pale-faced girl reached her hand out and stroked the ferret.
"You know Musa, for a friend, you sure are bossy. You know I love to read. I just can't help it." Abigail grabbed a few of her favorite crime novels: Angels and Demons, the 3rd Degree, and a few more. Just the thought of anything crime or forensic scientist related just jolted up Abby's happyness scale. She placed her hand on the cover of the top book, stroking the bold letters that showed the title. Ever since she came to the school, she felt like she actually belonged. Ever since she met and you could say, personally trained and educated by a staff member named Jyl, Abby had opened her eyes to many new possibilities.
Musa just gave her girl a strange look, a grin landed across her face as Abigail started thinking. Musa had always liked her girl, since the day she went to school with Abby, the same day that her family died. Just thinking about the look upon Abigail's face when she saw her sister in the hands of a stranger, and the faces of her parents in their burning home. Musa shuddered in her black coat. Shaking the thoughts out of her mind, Musa just opened her mouth and spoke again. "You know Abigail, you should try and communicate with the students. Some of them are new, and you should get a good look at their powers. I could have sworn I saw a young boy with a pet snake! The thought, ugh!"
Abby gave a laugh, her icey-blue eyes lighting up with laughter again. Her mood had been very upbeat since that morning, the six caffine soda-slushy drinks she had while testing an experiment that had unfortunetly gone horribly wrong. "Alright Musa, why don't we go listen to some music." She stopped dead in her sentence as the ferret sent her a 'You know I'm right so get over it' look in Abigail's direction. Abby just gave a sigh, her black collar slipping down to the bottom of her throat. Shaking the feeling, Abby took her books and headed for the door. And yet on her way, clumsy as she is, Abigail tripped over something. Freezing her books in midair, she fell face first and Musa slid across the floor with a thud and a hiss. Getting up and dusting off her white labcaot, she grabbed her books from the air as the ferret climbed up her back to the base of her neck. Just hoping no one eve saw what had just happened.

Jyl Jyl was a very busy woman. Between looking for chosen children and mentoring the special cases she rarely had time to do any leisurely activity such as read or sit down and relax. However, since it was the summer she had a little bit of free time and had decided to go to the library for some downtime.
After her morning hike through the woods and meditation time she had taken a shower and then headed toward the R.A. Torrey library. The library was one of Jyl's favorite places to go when she actually had some time to herself. Entering the library she looked around with satisfaction at it's large well stocked space. Books about anything one could imagine could be found at this library. A frown crossed her face for a moment as she remembered the Taro's library and how much more extensive it had been. If only all that knowledge hadn't been destroyed. If only her people hadn't been destroyed.
Shaking her head to clear it of such depressing thoughts Jyl went back to scanning the room for anything that looked like it might need to be taken care of. She had a few students lazing around during summer break who could be put to good use. A administrators job was never finished.
After walking around the library a couple more time and noting problems that should be corrected, she found a nice comfy chair and started to read a book about various species of animals. Jyl had found that it was always good to know about these things. You never know what you might end up with at Spiral Hills High.
Suddenly a commotion by the doorway of the library, drew Jyl's attention from her books. In an instance the nimble huntress was on her feet and at the door in moments of the noise. Not to her surprise at all she found one of her former students Abigail Taylor dusting herself up as she got off from the floor and retrieved her books from thin air. With a sly smile Jyl crossed her arms and started to tap her foot as the young woman stood to her feet. In a stern voice she spoke,
"Ms. Taylor, clumsy as ever I see."
She than smiled and uncrossed her arms. Her eyes scanned the girl in a businesslike matter trying to assess if she had harmed herself. Speaking again in a kinder voice Jyl said,
"I don't think anyone saw that besides me. Are you injured? I can escort you to the infirmary?"
Her silver eyes stared kindly into Abigail's blue ones as she waited for a response.

The last thing she remembered was the squeak of a black creature roll across the floor; that and lifting herself of the ground after falling. Abby hated that she was one of the most clumsy person in the entire school and the fact that most of the children don't take her seriously.
"Ms. Taylor, clumsy as ever I see." The words were coming from a silver-haired woman, tall and lean, whom had just appeared next to her as she rose to her feet. "I don't think anyone saw that besides me. Are you injured? I can escort you to the infirmary?"
The sight of the new woman shocked Abby enough to nearly knock her down on the floor again out of surprise. The only thing Abigail could think to say, came out in a sort of studdering-start. "J-Jyl! I-I'm perfectly fine, no need for the infirmary, you know me, I . . . where were you at? I didn't see you in the library."
Just then, the black, lean creature made a sort of squeaking-growl as she scrambled up the white lab-coat that her human wore. "If you would have payed any attention Abigail, you would have known she was sitting over there." the black weasel spoke softly.
"You know what Musa, I never asked you." Abigail spoke with hidden amusement as she watched a smile begin on Jyl's face. She remembered when she first came to the school after the incident with her family; Jyl was the one who taught her everything she knew.
"Sorry Jyl, I didn't mean to fall again, I swear." She looked up at the huntress with one of her I-am-innocent-I-swear looks. Just hoping she wouldn't get a lecture about looking where she was going.

Jyl Jyl's smile stayed firmly planted on her face as she listened to Abigail stutter in her surprise. Jyl had always loved that the girl wasn't the smooth, cunning sort. She was by no means a dummy, but not someone Jyl would send on a covert operation. Abigail had always been one of her favorite students however, and had learned fast how to use her abilities.
"J-Jyl! I-I'm perfectly fine, no need for the infirmary, you know me, I . . . where were you at? I didn't see you in the library."
Jyl merely stood there as she watched Musa, Abigail's ferret familiar, climb back up onto Abigail's shoulder and started to speak. Jyl understood the animal perfectly since all Taro had learned animal speak.
"If you would have payed any attention Abigail, you would have known she was sitting over there."
"You know what Musa, I never asked you," was the young woman's response as she smiled good naturedly at her friend. Then Abigail turned back to Jyl and looked at her with big innocent eyes. Jyl almost rolled her eyes amusedly at the girl's expression and her next comment, but didn't since she preferred not to make such gestures.
"Sorry Jyl, I didn't mean to fall again, I swear."
Jyl stared sternly at the girl and considered scaring her a bit more, but thought against it instead. Once again a smile quirked the corners of Jyl's lips, and she started to walk. She guided Abigail toward the door as she began to speak,
"Well, Miss Abigail, maybe you should listen to your friend Musa and take heed to your surroundings. Chosen ones would be wise to follow such habits. It's all well and done now, however, and since a friend came to help you in your distress fortune seems to have smiled upon you. Come, we have not spoken in ages, care to have lunch with me?"
Jyl spoke in short clipped sentences always businesslike as she walked to the door. Her stomach was starting to remind her that it was almost lunch, and she rather hoped Abigail would join her. For;; Tikker//Abigail Word Count;; Okay. Muse Level;; 404. Comments;; tired.....

The thought hadn’t registered to her that lunch was approaching then she realized that she actually was getting hungry, but before she could accept the invitation, Abigail turned around to find her old teacher already at the door of the library, and rushed after her.
Abby couldn’t help her nature, and sometimes it just seemed like Jyl didn’t like her; she couldn’t tell if it was just her having a bad day, or the fact that she couldn’t be one of the ones to go undercover like James Bond. Musa had always reassured her that everything was fine, and that Jyl had always liked her, but then again it could just be the nerves of her mentor because of the story about the Taro.
As she walked, Abby thought, her mind drifting off into different places every few seconds then out of the blue just asked, “Were are we going?” She couldn’t help but glare at Musa for the sigh the small ferret had given.

Jyl Jyl could feel that Abigail was following quickly behind her after she processed what the Taro woman had said. Abigail had always been a powerful person, and even know Jyl could sense the energy of Abigail's powers. Jyl fumbled at her wrist for her copper and silver bracelets and quickly removed the silver ones. Silver was known to heighten most powers, and it was no different with Jyl's. Her powers of Ayll were very potent things and it was better to use copper at a time like this to dull them.
Jyl slowed her brisk, tempered pace so that Abigail could draw up beside her. Turning her head to the girl, she studied her with a friendly gaze taking in how much she had grown since that first summer she had come as such a young girl orphaned and scared. Jyl was still impressed with how fast she had learned and grown.
Jyl kept walking through the corridors of the school, when Abigail's question floated through the air,
"Where are we going?"
Jyl smiled and spoke, "I thought we might visit Joey's. Or would you rather go somewhere else?"
They were almost to the door which would lead to the parking lot, and Jyl's Hummer. As Jyl stood there waiting for Abigail's response she pondered where else they could go. Spiral Hills City was not a very big city, if it could even be called that. Not much variety of dining and such was offered, nor shopping. Which is why Jyl knew most of her students went to the nearby town of Kentville for their shopping trips. Kentville was a substantially larger town, but Jyl had never liked going into cities. Too much risk for a Taro....

Abigail listened to where Jyl had suggested they went for their lunch. Joey's? Goodness I havn't been there in years! she thought as her eyes lit up with stars. The stars stayed in her eyes until a small black-and-gold creature crawled around her neck and shoulders.
"You know Abigail, you're thinking loud enough to be annoying," the black creature spoke in a dead tone. She hadn't gotten much sleep because of school starting but has drug on and decided was going to crash when they got back.
"Hush up Musa, just because you've stayed up reading my books doesn't mean you can be that way." Abby said before she turned back to Jyl, "Joey's would be great Jyl, I havn't been there in years."
I even used to sneak out at night when I was a student to go, Abigail just hoped that Jyl couldn't read her mind. Releasing her thoughts before Jyl could even attempt to read her eyes, she hopped to the door and pushed it open before taking off in a jog to the Hummer's passenger-side door, knowing full well that Jyl probably wouldn't let her drive.
