Fiery light bathed the world in hues of blood red to gold as the sun sank below the horizon. The heat and humidity were final dissipating and a cool breeze began to stir the green leaves of the trees. He was alone at last in these Shelty Woods as the students called them. It was interesting the events that had led him here, though he wasn't very different from others. Like other students he had a companion a pet people would say. This pet was more than just that.
The male freshman turned his stunning stone blue gaze toward his she-wolf friend. Man was she ever pretty. Her pelt was arctic white with a soft and almost unnoticeable blue tint to it. Her back was dusted with a pleasurable mixture of grays ranging from silver to coal black. Her pays were lightly dusted with this mixture as well though much lighter. The dusting ran the length of her spine and was like a dorsal stripe found on dun colored horses. Her moves were elegant and she looked fragile as glass with all the beauty of fine china. Her eyes were the best feature of all. They were blue-gray with flecks of emerald, gold, amber, and blue. A soft purple lighting bold graced her right eye and down her cheek, a reminder of the past. The she-wolf only weighted in at about 90 to 100 lbs but was 4.3 ft tall!
Many people had questioned his companion but he had never really answered them. All he would say was Wasula, meaning 'storm'. What a horrid fate she had be-fallen indeed. She was the victim of human experimentation. They had turned her into this monster they had called her. Through their scientific studies they assured him she had been given special powers. She was part of the creation of a new kind of weapon for the Army. The powers those monsters had given her included the ability of human speech, telekinesis, and power over the elements. She only spoke him and occasionally to others when the mood suited her.
They had saved each other for they were both different. They were monsters according to the human race and perfect for scientific study. He turned away from such horrid thoughts before he aroused his anger further. They had been given a second chance when he was invited to this place, Spiral Hills.
Rohan removed his gaze from her and his thoughts returned to his surroundings. It would be dark soon, the last dying rays of the sun struggled so shed light through the dense forest. He should return back his dorm before th school realized he was missing and punished him.
Wasula turned toward him and he felt her presence in his mind as she spoke: "Let them worry, it won't matter, besides you've heard what most freshman do, they walk these woods at night as part of a test."
"Ah, I know, you are right, besides it is nice to be alone."
Wasula started at him critically before laying back down again among her bed of leaves.
He hadn't come here for the test, all he wanted was to be alone. He knew what he was and didn't really care what the rest of the world thought. His thoughts drifted toward himself as he shifted on the huge tree stump, probably as old as time. He was blessed with the name Rohan Kennard. Kennard meaning 'brave guard'. What a stupid name! Then again it did fit. He was a wizard, to be more specific a Theurgist. People at this school would rather classify him as a wizard and a soothsayer. What did they know! Perhaps they would classify him as Necromancer given his aloof nature. He would blame him though? Humans had done nothing but try to control him and destroy his life. Again what did they know or care?
For only being 15 Rohan had seen much in his life. He was very tall, standing at about 6 ft and at a healthy weight. Dark blue jeans with the bottoms torn and fraying were part of his usual attire along with white socks and tennis and a plain t-shirt usably of a solid color. Today's color happened to be sky blue.

Jyl A tall lean figure stood as motionless as a statue staring off into the distance. Long white hair was braided neatly and wrapped many times around her head resembling a coronet. Silver eyes stared without emotion at the vast wood in front of her.
Jyl had been out since before sunrising. Hunting. In her culture, Jyl had been a mighty huntress of the evil beasts that had lived deep within the bowels of the earth. It was the Hunters that went and kept the small cities of the Taro safe. They also provided the food the others would need in their underground home.
Now Jyl was living the life of a human, but she was still a Huntress. However, now it usually wasn't of animals. With a sly smile the woman seemed to transform. Her lean form morphed and changed until she was a small white cat. With a grace known only to felines she walked down the hill and into the woods.
The Taro woman came to a stop in the Shelty Woods. Her keen senses were picking up the presence of two other people. Since the sun was starting to set and the night coming Jyl wondered who would be out so late. Staying in cat form she crept upon the two watching them closely, and upon seeing them immediately recognized them. It was one of the freshman, a Rohan Kennard. When Jyl, had found him she had been outraged to see what humans had done to him and his friend. She had been glad she could bring him back to SHH where he could get the training and guidance he needed.
Quickly Jyl shifted back into her human form walking, up to the young man and his wolf companion. She spoke her voice full of authority, but overall kindness,
"Good evening, Mr. Kennard and Lady Wasula. Out for a stroll?"
Although Spiral Hill High had a curfew, Jyl wasn't in the mood for enforcing it. She herself knew how it felt to be locked in and unable to see the stars and moon. She smiled kindly at the boy and his companion.

"Good evening, Mr. Kennard and Lady Wasula. Out for a stroll?" Rohan jumped at the audible sound of a woman's voice. He knew it wasn't Wasula because she normally used her telekinesis abilities or canine language. No this voice held authority to it but rang with kindness.
Stumbling to his feet Rohan spun around to face a tall, slender woman with beautiful silver eyes and long luxurious silver hair. Unlike him this woman had a good strong back, with powerful arms, but they still complemented her well and didn't look out of place. Her eyes had a fierce warrior likeness to them that were filled with kindness.
This woman and her high cheek boned face were familiar; he just couldn't quite place the name with the figure before him. The teen racked his brain and searched his memory with little success. He did however place the event in which he had first encountered her. She had been the one who had accepted him in here, she was the admissions lady.
Interesting that she was here and not doing who knows what important thing the school had her do. How had she snuck up on him like that? Had he been so engrossed in his thoughts that he hadn't noticed? Why hadn't Wasula alerted him? Why had he even bothered with that last question, she knew who this was and wasn't bothered by her presence. Then again perhaps she wanted some entertainment by watching him epically fail at communicating with a higher authority. He would have to remind himself to scold her later. Man he wish he could speak with his mind!
Now what to say? He already looked like an idiot and like a kid caught with a hand in the cookie jar. He was just standing there, with a surprised expression on his face and his skinny, fine long braid of hair barely resting on his left shoulder. His hair was of medium length with the bangs long that flopped over his eyes, giving him his own personal eye protection. Not really, it was more annoying then anything else because it was always in the way of his vision. He tossed his head to the right in an effort to remove the dark red and brown hair from his stone blue eyes.
He hated his hair color; it only helped him to stand out. Naturally his hair is shades of red with strands of golden blonde hair. From a distance and without direct light he looks like a normal red head, but with direct light it looks like fire. To help him fit in he dyes his hair milk chocolate brown.
Despite having red hair Rohan's face was freckle free. He had a strong jaw with an intelligent look about his face. His ears were slightly pointed. He isn’t completely lacking muscles, just not muscular like a boxer, only average in build for the most part. His height came mostly from his legs, but it wasn't completely out of proportion with the rest of him. His legs were strong and suggested that he would do very well in an endurance race or cross country, maybe even speed too. Even though he doesn’t look like a champion weight lifter it would be unwise to question his strength. One feature about his right arm was a scar that most often always covered with make up. He hardly ever lets the whole serpentine dragon scar show at any given time. It ran from his elbow wrapping around to the palm of his hand where it had its mouth opened in a roar. This was his curse.
He had learned to never again question his master, never again to try and teach the teacher. In his rage and pain he had foolishly sought to teach his master a lesson. The battle was tipping in Rohan's favor, but he had underestimated Gorganelle's power and so this scar was to forever be his reminder. When Rohan lets his anger go unchecked he turns into a monster, a creature of myth feared by many, a quadruped dragon.
Rohan lifted his eyes to look into her's, trying to resist the urge of looking else where. He wasn't anti-social, just unsure or even afraid; who could blame him? Most of his experiences with other people have been negative. He tried to think of something to say, anything other than umm.
Well here goes nothing. "Yes Ma'am we were just looking for a bit of fresh air, we figured here would be a nice place to find some relief from this heat." That wasn't the truth, far from it, but what did she know? For all she knew it was the truth, and it would be a good excuse if it wasn't getting so late. Should he say he fell asleep? As if Wasula would ever let him fall asleep here in some strange place with darkness closing in. Again what does she know about Wasula? Nothing, or did she?
A shiver raced up his spine at the creepy thought. The hair on the back of his neck began to stand up, was it just him or was it getting cold? He cast a glance at Wasula who seemed unconcerned, just content to lay there. She turned one eye on him and she snickered, at least she found this amusing.
Oh great, now he was done for he was going to get in trouble. Well what else was new? Finally Rohan shook the look of surprise from his face and tried to put up his mask, his shield of 'I don't care; I'm a robot of no feelings.' If only he could do it perfectly but his eyes always portrayed his thoughts no matter how hard he tried.
((Gah! Sorry for not checking back sooner and for not coding the last post. Thanks for the comments. I think I shall join, but I want to post a little more with him, this is getting interesting. ^^ Do we have to post what you did at the bottom? I didn't see it in the rusles, but I noticed others do it too.

Jyl Jyl watched closely the young man's immediate reaction. Her quick eyes took in the surprise he felt at seeing her and the intense struggle it looked like to try and remember something. Jyl guessed that he was probably trying to put a name to her face. A crooked smile spread over Jyl's face for a moment. The new kids never did know what Jyl REALLY did.
Jyl listened closely as Rohan answered her question,
"Yes Ma'am we were just looking for a bit of fresh air, we figured here would be a nice place to find some relief from this heat."
Jyl raised an eyebrow. Being so old, she had developed many abilities over the years some of them natural things that humans had as well, others....not so natural. One of those abilities she had gained, however, was being able to tell why someone was lying. Jyl didn't mind if Rohan wanted to just be outside and get away from SHH for a bit, but Jyl absolutely hated anyone lying to her. Humans were notorious for lying apparently.
Jyl was about to speak and confront the boy with the guilty look in his eyes when a familiar cold descended upon the two. A presence made itself known in the otherwise peaceful clearing. It felt so cold, and malicious. It was like death had become a presence that could be felt. Immediately every muscle in Jyl's body tensed and she looked all around at the surrounding forest. Instinctively she went into a fighting stance making sure she could move quickly so she could protect Rohan and Wasula. She knew he had great power because she could sense it tingling under his skin, but she had yet to see if he could use it.
Without looking at him, Jyl addressed the two of them,
"Mr. Kennard, Lady Wasula. I suggest we move from here. Now."
The urgency in her voice was twinged by just a little bit of fear, something that Jyl never felt. The only time the mighty Huntress had feared was when HE slaughtered almost all her race. She knew he was still here, hiding somewhere. Jyl knew she had to protect her family, and the Chosen. The Chosen were the Taro's last hope....
Jyl looked at Rohan and stared into his eyes. One of her hands twitched nervously as if about to reach for a hidden weapon. The many silver bangles on her arms glowed with a faint light as Jyl pulled from the powers of the children in the nearby dorms. She didn't pull from Rohan, however. He would need his strength to run.
The Scourge was watching.

Rohan had never before been so confused in his life. Just as he thought that a lecture about honesty was coming she tensed and took up a combative stance. Was this how Spiral Hills did their punishment? Was he supposed to fight her? No he wasn't supposed to fight, he was being protected.
He didn't need protecting, besides what had gotten her all worked up? There was nothing there, or was there? He was so confused, was it the sudden cold and that had triggered something, had he said something? Her arms, the things on her arms was it just him or were those thing glowing?
Horrible dread filled him and anger? Was that anger that he felt bubbling up like heated liquid? Why? He couldn't figure out why some part of him somewhere was filled with terror, rage, and pain. Horror filled his eyes as he realized what was going to happen, if he didn't calm down he would change.
Already he could feel his scar burning with pain which was only intensifying. Horrible burning, fiery pain followed the serpentine scar and it would soon begin to glow. Rohan tried to stifle a cry as the pain intensified and his left arm instinctively clutched his right. He wanted to double over in pain. Even though he was a Theurgist he doubted anything would help soothe the agony.
A growl rumbled in his throat, he had to relax and ignore the pain, if there was going to be a fight he had better be ready. Remembering his training Rohan positioned himself in a more defensive stance. His mind was racing trying to recall some of his more powerful attack spells. Those spells however he hadn't practiced in some time and he wasn't truly ready for them. He had stumbled across them in Gorganelle's massive collection of books.
"Mr. Kennard, Lady Wasula. I suggest we move from here. Now."
Leave? Oh no, he wasn't going to leave. Why did she want him to turn coward and leave? He wanted to see what had put her and Wasula so on edge. The she-wolf looked twice her size with her hackles raised. Her tail was raised high and held stiff. Her ears had practically melted into the side of her head and her fangs gleamed in the vanishing light. A low growl grumbled in her throat, warning what ever it was to stay away.
He wanted answers, he wanted to know what was going on. Rohan was very stubborn and certainly defiant. It was a small wonder why he got in trouble with his mulish behavior at times. Rohan returned his gaze and attention back on the silver haired maiden, the admissions lady. Was that fear he saw in her gaze? No it must just be the light.
Rohan ignored Wasula's asking and her concern. He snuck a glance down at his arm, it was glowing pink. It wouldn't be long now, if it turned fiery red like a fresh brand then he would be in trouble, they all would. As the monster Rohan wasn't himself. He couldn't remember anything while in dragon form.
Wasula snapped to attention. Something wasn't right, something was here. Here eyes looked around and found nothing. Her ears caught nothing. the air however had grown still. Wasula quickly got to her feet, her attention now focused on reaching out with her mind to try and 'feel' what ever had come.
Fear, hate, pain, tension, the list could go on about all the emotions and feelings surrounding them. Pain? "Rohan!" She screamed with her mind. This woman was right they needed to leave. "Rohan come on lets go and do as she says." Wasula growled audibly in the common human tongue. Urgh Rohan could be so stubborn. Well she certainly wasn't going to leave him, she would fight till her last breath.
((Sorry about adding the whole angry thing. I added it because I didn't know if Rohan could feel the emotions of maybe the fallen Taro since, if I'm understanding this correctly he is one of the surviving Taro. I got the idea from Nick's Avatar The Last Airbender. Aang can sort of feel the emotions of his past lives. ^^ Anyway if he can't than disregard it since I can't edit my posts.
Lol, I know I finally decided on a color for Rohan and Wasula. I think Rohan will be the yellow and Wasula will be the defualt. Sorry if it is confusing. xD))

Jyl Jyl watched as the momentary confusion flashed across the boy's face. She growled. They didn't have time for confusion. Jyl was on the verge of grabbing the boy's arm and just jerking him toward the school when Wasula spoke,
"Rohan come on lets go and do as she says."
Jyl nodded and Wasula and thanked her then looked back at Rohan. Her lips pursed and she noticed that he looked almost as if he was in pain. Jyl took a deep breath and calmed herself. This was an immensely difficult thing to do due to the presence she could feel watching them. She spoke her voice calm with no trace of her earlier fear,
"Rohan, Wasula, we must go back to the school. The other students need protection," she stopped here and thought to herself that they were probably both still confused. She sighed and continued talking, "I hate explaining this to a first year student, but I promise all will be told if we will immediately go to the dormitories."
Jyl started to gather more energy, from a particular student until her white hair, her blue gem necklace, and sun tattoo were all glowing. She channeled the energy until it was a ball of light then motioned for Wasula and Rohan to step inside it with her. Her arms shook with the immense power she was holding. Her eyes started to glow as well.
Making a transportation bubble was hard. Making one out of light while the King of Darkness drew near, and on top of that making it for three people was an impossible task and Jyl was accomplishing it. She wouldn't be able to hold it for much longer though. Her reserves of energy were already being depleted.
Urgently she motioned for Wasula and Rohan to step in. The darkness was closing in, and Jyl was beginning to see spots behind her eyes. Not much longer and the bubble would collapse, leaving them with an unconscious teacher and something terrible creeping upon them...
The Scourge was watching.
OOC Name;; Aria/Sunny For;; Rohan Kennard Word Count;; 420. Muse Level;; Okay Comments;; So sorry for the wait! And just to clear things of Rohan would be one of the Chosen, not the Taro. The Chosen are humans, just with special abilities given to them by the Taro. =)

The boy's mind was spinning with confusion. What one Earth did the school need protection from? Why didn't she tell freshman? Did she not trust them or something? No he didn't want to wait, he wanted to know now. Rage was bubbling up inside him, he was losing his grip of self control.
Rohan's stone blue eyes widened with amazement and his mouth hung age as he started at this woman numb with shock. This was incredible! He could only imagine the power it must take to form something. Wait what? She wanted them to go through that thing? Fear froze him solid and memories flooded his mind as they slipped out of the box he had shoved them into.
Trust, what a fickle word that seemed to have boundless meanings. He wasn't sure he understood the word anymore. Gorganelle had demanded it from him when he was under the aging wizard's care and instruction. He had learned never to question his master's words, just do and all would be made clear, his mistake. Gorganelle had been using him, keeping him in the fog, out of what was really going on. Those endless nights of learning herbs and potion making. He had been drugging himself! Making potions that left him drained and weak. Casting spells that transfered power and energy into the things Gorganelle wanted or the teacher himself. He had been learning how to make and produce deadly poisons and how to reshape basic things.
Anguish, rage, pain filled him like water flooding dry stream beds and rivers after a dam breaks. These emotions threatened to swarm, engulf and drown him in misery. The scar on his arm was glowing fiery red like red hot metal used to brand animals. The pain would have sent Rohan to the ground and he would have become engulfed in flame as he became the beast if it hadn't been for Wasula.
Th she-wolf had planted a well aimed jump at the middle of his back, he stumbled forward and into the ethereal glowing ball. Pain forced the breath out of him as the teen did a face plant onto carpeted floor. Every thought and emotion seemed to be driven out of him with the fall. A heavy weight rested on his back and he realized they were back at school, in a room just as the silver haired woman had said.
Wasula could hardly believe her ears. How could anyone be so thick in the head! He was refusing help! Even though this woman was only an acquaintance she had the sense to trust her enough that this glowing ball would take them safely away from here. "You foolish, stubborn brat!" Wasula raged in the common tongue of humans. Normally Wasula could careless what humans did as long as they left her alone and she was free. She did however, care for Rohan, they had been through so much together already.
Wasula whipped her elegant body around and like lightening struck Rohan hard and fast, shoving him forward. As Rohan stumbled forward Wasula leaped after him before she was left alone with what ever was out there. Wasula shut her eyes and hoped this woman hadn't mislead them.
The wolfess opened her beautiful eyes. There were in a room, somewhere in the school. Cotton and denim fabric rested beneath her and she realized that Rohan was beneath her. Satisfaction brought her anger back. She regained her composure and sat upon him. Her pale lips were drawn back into a fierce snarl and her ears were pinned against her head.
"You Idiot! What on Earth has gotten into you brainless mouse! You could have gotten use killed!" With that Wasula lunged for his ear and her teeth snapped shut on the air next to it. "Give me one got reason why I shouldn't tear you to shreds like paper! Foolish little Pyromancer, so hot headed and rash!"
With that Wasula let him up and spun around to face him eyes sparkling like fire. Her jaws clamped shut again, and without another word she stalked off for a near by corner. She didn't care that she had used the common tongue again, she didn't feel like using mind speech, besides this made for a more fearsome show.
((Oh thanks lol. ^^ Sorry for the shortness and for not really elaborating.))
